Bikes, Hikes, Music, Mushrooms

Retired boomer, out to walk my dogs, ride my bike, and hike the forest paths around Monroe County Indiana. Recently found ADHD runs in my family, and apparently gallops in me…

Masonry & More

Masonry & More

Back in the 20th Century I worked as a mason in and around Bloomington, including a short stint working on the Sample Gates, where I cut limestone for the right arch, and laid much of the brick there as well (in December!) Kevin Enright and I laid limestone paths on the court house square during its renovation, and with the help of the Breeden family, tuckpointed the 2 story Adams houses (at 2nd and College). I moved from being a Brown County carpenter to masonry contractor when I realized there were many more carpenters than masons!

So I am back at it this summer, tuckpointing and rebuilding chimneys, steps, patios, basements, brick/stone/block walls, whatever needs a bit of care to keep the water out. Below are some of my recent masonry jobs: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JQLTef6UqLFbKcVG9

As it worked out, some folks need my carpentry skills as well as wallpaper scraping, plastering, painting, window/door repairs, and other small tasks requiring measuring tapes, drills, saws, etc. As I recently closed my ebike shop, I’ve had some requests for ebike assembly and repair, so several jobs have come my way since, I am always ready to help!
